‘Lazy Eye’ Treatment Shows Promise In Adults

The evidence continues to support what optometrists have known for years: it is possible to improve amblyopia (lazy eye) beyond childhood years. It is faster and easier to treat at younger ages, but can be treated at any age.

If you’d like to read about this latest study on adult amblyopia treatment, click here.

If you are an adult with amblyopia and have been told that it is too late to be treated, call us for an appointment and, after evaluation,  we can discuss what type of benefit you might receive from treatment.

Be Well!

I am very anxious to find out more about this treatment and how to find a provider in the state of Virginia. My youngest son is just now 16 and I would love to see if it would benefit him so he could pursue a career in law enforcement which has been his dream since age two.

    Sherry,

I do not know the details of the treatment protocol, so I cannot say for sure if practitioners in Virginia are offering it. However, this work reinforces what we have known for a long time – that vision therapy can provide successful treatment of amblyopia in adults.

I suggest that you go to http://www.covd.org to find a vision therapy provider evaluate your son’ vision. They can give you their prognosis for visual improvement and estimates of treatment time.

Good luck and let me know what happens.
