Free tickets to Tampa Improv!

Wow, with all the stress and confusion from moving our office to a BIGGER and BETTER location (here’s the skinny, more on that later!) the Bright Eyes staff and I sure would like to blow off some steam! And there is almost nothing better for a good night out than some laughter at live comedy. It has been one of my favorite night time outings for years – especially when we lived in Chicago.

But you don’t have to Chicago, NYC, or LA to see some wicked funny comedy. Thanks to our friends at Improv, you can get your laugh on right in Tampa, and in honor of National Eye Health Care Month (see related post), they’ve graciously given us FREE tickets to hand out! Free funny? What could be better?

So even though we are not seeing a full load of patients during our move across the parking lot, please stop in in the week and check out what dates we have left. First come first serve! Each coupon is redeemable for a ticket for two people on a specific night fro a specific performer, so check your calendar in advance.

Join COVD’s “Visions of Hope” Vision Therapy Video Contest.

At Bright Eyes Family Vision Care we love it when patients share their successes with us. Many times and they simply tell us when they come in. Sometimes they’ll write an amazing e-mail. One thing we really love is a good video!

The College of Optometrists in Vision Development (COVD) is an organization dedicated to educating doctors and the general public about vision therapy. This summer, in conjunction with Children’s Vision and Learning Month, COVD is hosting an amazing vision therapy success story video competition called Visions of Hope video contest.

The goal of the competition is to see how many great vision therapy stories they can get on line to help share the positive impact vision therapy can have. It is exciting because the contest has already gotten lots of attention online. I can’t wait to see all the great videos that result from it!

Tampa Bay Band WD-HAN on the Vans Warped Tour 2011

Tampa Bay based band WD-HAN (stands for “We Don’t Have A Name”) is a fun-loving rock group comprised of four members: Spencer Barnes on Vocals, Cal Henry on guitar, Lea Campbell on drums and Chaz Radle on bass. Playing mostly originals they have a sound compared to that of Incubus, Kings of Leon and The Temper Trap.

Contrary to their title they certainly are making a name for themselves. In the past year they’ve shared the stage with bands such as Motion City Soundtrack, Sing It Loud, A Rocket To The Moon, Set It Off and many more. WD-HAN has gone on radio stations all over Florida and been to play at multiple colleges. You may have even seen them on NBC’s “Daytime” (twice)!

Now they have put their name in the bag for a slot on this years Vans Warped Tour. Signing up for Ernie Ball’s Battle of the Bands 15, WD-HAN is currently ranked at number 25 for the St. Petersburg area!

How can you help them? “The top 100 vote getting bands for each venue will be eligible to win a slot to play live on the 2011 Warped Tour. All 100 bands for each venue will be reviewed by a panel of industry professionals comprised of our partners, 2011 Warped Tour Organizers, and Ernie Ball Inc.”

We know that many of our younger patients are talented artists. We see them drawing and coloring in waiting area and see the creations that their parents post online.

To commemorate Westchase’s 20th anniversary, WOW wants to feature a young Westchase artist’s work on the upcoming directory cover. Westchasers aged 5-18 are invited to submit an artistic work as part of a contest to find a winning cover.

Greetings everyone!

It has been an incredible year here at Bright Eyes! We want to thank all of you for being our patients. We would not be able to do the work we love without the support of each individual patient that comes through our doors.

As the year comes to a close, I’d like to share a few of the exciting things that are going on. But there is just too much to write out in paragraphs, or this email would be way too long.

So here are some quick highlights:

Celebrate Veterans Day

On Saturday, we will celebrate my grandfather’s 90th birthday. He is one of the most amazing people I know. Although he doesn’t talk about it much, he flew a P-47 Thunderbolt in World War II in Europe, similar to the photo above. To this day he still gets together with the brave men he flew with to talk and share stories.

But first, today we celebrate and honor my grandfather as well as all veterans, young and old. With gratitude and appreciation to those who have served and continue to serve our country, Happy Veterans Day.

To show our appreciation, Bright Eyes does provide a military discount 365 days a year. It is our way of saying thank you.
